If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “I want to remember this moment,” then you already understand why I founded OurStory.com. Life is full of incredible moments, memories, lessons, and connections, but as time goes by, these essential passages in our life’s story tend to fade, slip away, or simply get lost in the shuffle of our busy lives .

Even when I was younger, I dreamed of having some place, some way to hold on to my memories and those life lessons gathered along the way. With each passing year there was more I wanted to record, but also growing the feeling that I would never catch up with telling my story, the stories of the people I had learned from, or even be able to recall the moments and memories that had mattered most so far.

As I began to lose some of the important people who had been part of my life journey, I longed even more for a way to tell their story so that I, and those who came after me, could understand and learn from the people that they were.

And that’s where OurStory began. As technology evolved new standards and presented new opportunities, I saw a way to use the Web to deliver the best way yet to build upon the timeless tradition of capturing and sharing life stories, for ourselves, with each other, and through the generations.

OurStory is here to help you build and enrich your relationships and connections by guiding you (and others in your circle) to recall, write about, and illustrate life’s most important memories. In one easy-to-use, organized place, and in a rich environment that celebrates all of the stories – big and small – with the words, photos and voices that help tell about your journey, at the same time honoring your choices regarding privacy. OurStory delivers—finally—a way to hold on to life’s incredible moments, and to keep them in a place where others can share in your journey.

For me, this is the culmination of a dream I’ve nurtured for decades. For you, I hope it’s a friendly, fun, and welcoming place for you to begin, or continue, to collect and enjoy the stories that matter most in your life.

I’ve learned that there is real magic in lifting up your eyes, seeing where you have come from, seeing where you are going, and learning from the others who are alongside you on life’s journey.
